   Robert's motto was "Never give up –– never, ever give up." The best tribute I can pay him is to live by that motto, and work every day toward finding a cure for the disease that took him from us.

   After my husband lost his battle on April 16th, 2002, I vowed that I would make it my life's mission to continue to fight for his dream and vision: a world where the word 'cancer' is simply a memory of war we have won.

   His legacy lives on in the discoveries about cancer that have already been made possible through his generosity and leadership. Robert established an endowment for sarcoma research and patient care programs before his death, and we have taken his dream further with the establishment of The Robert Urich Foundation for Cancer Research and Patient Care. Sponsorship of our Foundation will hep provide vital funding for programs that benefit cancer patients and their families. The result: better treatment for thousands of cancer sufferers around the globe.

   There is a vital purpose to the work we are doing with The Robert Urich Foundation, Which supports cancer research and patient care. We started raising funds for research during Robert's treatment knowing then that research was so important, especially for rare cancers. Much of that work relies on private funding. With each advance made in cancer research, I become more hopeful that someday other families won't have to endure the nightmare ours faced.

   This Foundation is a tribute to Robert, as well as a national community-wide celebration of a united effort to eradicate a disease that has touched all of our lives.
